The Metallic Collection – Peacock Feathers Saree - Phirozi Blue
Peacock Feathers Saree
This series of sarees expresses our love for precious metals and their shades. Find a mix of zari, thread, pearls, sequins and other traditional and contemporary hand embroidery ingredients on these sarees to make our favourite QoH motifs.
This saree is woven in Andhra Pradesh/ Telangana and hand dyed in Rajasthan which adds a dull lustre to the silver/gold Ganga Jamuna borders and changes the shade of the zari to copper, bronze, beaten silver and other such metal shades.
The Peacock Feather Motif:
Peacocks symbolize integrity, beauty, grace and pride. Peacocks are often mentioned in history, mythology, legends and folk lores. Many sculptures mention peacocks as a symbol of the ‘Cycle of Time’.
Peacocks have symbolic meanings not only in Hinduism, but also in Greco-Roma Mythology, in Asian Spirituality and in Christianity. In Babylonia and Persia the peacock is seen as a guardian to royalty, and is often seen in engravings upon the thrones of royalty.
The peacock's feather is not only considered as a sign of beauty…..it is also considered as a sign of knowledge because it is in the form of an eye. People keep the peacock feathers in their houses because it is believed that keeping peacock feather at home brings good luck and prosperity.
